CEDAR RAPIDS — Corner Store Apothecary is expanding its hours for curbside pick-up, but is holding off on announcing a re-opening of foot traffic until better information is available on whether the coronavirus is under control in Iowa.

The Cedar Rapids store, one of the state’s pioneers in CBD products that are third-party tested, is now open from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Owner Kymm Loeffler said she’ll watch developments to determine when Corner Store gradually opens to in-store traffic.

Corner Store, as a carrier of CBD and hemp products, is among those businesses considered “essential,” but it still did not allow in-store foot traffic throughout the shutdown, out of caution. Loeffler says many people who confuse CBD and hemp with marijuana misunderstand why stores that carry CBD receive the “essential” label that has become coveted among businesses during the coronavirus shutdown.

CBD-themed t-shirts are among the specialty items carried by Corner Store Apothecary in Cedar Rapids.

“We offer natural products that help in building your immune systems so you can fight infections better,” Loeffler says. “And we offer products without additives and preservatives. Our body is not intended to use synthetic things.”

Hemp and CBD products that Corner Store carries include lotions, salves, tinctures, animal treats, and more. Products it carries beyond CBD and hemp include T-shirts, natural herbs of all kinds, jewelry, incense, and metaphysical novelties.

Kymm Loeffler, her husband Patrick, and son Jordan opened Corner Store Apothecary in Cedar Rapids’ Czech Village in February 2017. Kymm Loeffler is a former nurse, and Patrick personally experienced the benefits of CBD oil in controlling his epilepsy. The store is located at 1612 C St. S.W., Suite B, Cedar Rapids. This is the latest in an occasional series of articles about how advertisers in The Real MainStream are adjusting in the coronavirus era.

Jordan Loeffler researched the effects of CBD, and eventually helped his father Patrick (right) discover how it eased his epilepsy. Kymm Loeffler, center, is a former nurse now recognized as one of the state’s leading experts on CBD and hemp products.
