For the fourth year in a row, Rainbow Cafe in Carbondale hosts Queermas at the Carbondale Civic Center. This family-friendly tradition is free to all and filled with fun activities. Join a gift exchange. Dress for the Ugly Sweater Competition. Watch a movie, play a game, or get your face painted. Each “chosen family” or household unit is asked, if possible, to bring a dish for a potluck dinner; you’re asked to share what you’ll bring on this sheet.
Rainbow Cafe is also offering holiday cards, to help transgender people communicate their current names and correct pronouns among family members who may not “get it.” You can pick up Christmas cards in person at Rainbow Cafe, or have them delivered to you. Cards are available at the event on a first-come, first-serve basis. To have yours mailed, sign up here.
