Women's History Month Art at Peoria Public Library
Gather to make art inspired by Alma Thomas, the first-ever fine arts graduate from Howard University. Thomas, an African-American artist who also taught youth for 35 years, turned to the abstract style later in her career and is deeply respected for her contribution to the genre. Thomas was also  the first Black woman to have a solo exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art. This art-making event is free, includes supplies, and is open to kids of all ages, who are encouraged to "dress for a mess."
